Canola Oil immersed Transformers
Kitashiba Electric began at home and newly developed an environmentally friendly transformer adopting the insulation oil made from rapeseeds (natural ester oil)
for global warming prevention as well as vacuum type On-Load Tap Changer. We would like to commence our sales of this transformer to electric power companies and common users who possess T&D facility in the beginning, and would like to widely expand our sales overseas customers.
Aims
- To reduce the amount of CO2 emissions at the time of disposition and incineration
- To prevent soil pollution
- To improve safety level
- To re-use component parts
Measures
- To substitute mineral oil with canola oil as an insulating oil for transformers
- To use vacuum type valve on-load tap changers
Effects
Added Value Improvements
- Improved safety---the flash point and fire point of canola oil are higher than that of mineral oil
- No staining of insulating oil due to arcing
Environmental Improvements
- Improved environmental performance due to the effects of carbon neutrality
(The amount of CO2 absorbed in the growth process=the amount of CO2 emitted in the disposal process) - Prevents soil pollution---by its high biodegradability and lower risk to the environment
- Purifying by oil filter is not required
- Prevents injection oil outflow by unexpected accidents
- Re-use of cassette type dehydrating breathers
