KITASHIBA’s Basic Policy on Environmental Preservation
KITASHIBA ELECTRIC CO., LTD. and its head office and factory, together with Kitashiba Giken Co., ltd., strive to contribute to our society and through economical activities by the development and manufacture of environmentally-friendly and energy-related equipment and products, such as transformers, system controllers, electro-heat equipment, small electrical motors, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, pressed metal parts and other products related to the environment, by providing these products into the world.
While recognizing that the Earth is an irreplaceable asset and it is humankind’s duty and responsibility to hand it on to future generations in a sound state, we contribute to the development of a sustainable society by pursuing creation of new values and symbiosis with the Earth, in accordance with Toshiba Group’s Environmental Vision, and to promote environmental preservation activities based on the following basic policy:
We will place the global environment’s preservation as one of our management’s most important tasks as we continually promote environmental improvements to be in harmony with the economy.
We will observe the laws and regulations related to environmental preservation and manage our activities in accordance with our strict requirements and voluntary internal standards which we have accepted.
We will promote activities for a better environment, to reduce its burden and set targets for pollution prevention based on the environmental impact assessment of related business activities, products and services.
We recognize that the global resources are limited and will promote product assessment, such as by manufacturing lighter products extending the longevity of their life cycle, reducing the number of components used in products, by displaying the materials used, as well as by merchandising energy-saving and environmentally-conscious products in order to prevent and reduce global warming and promote standardization and normalization.
We will promote green procurement and reduce and substitute restricted chemical substances in order to lower its environmental burden, and
We will replace deteriorated facilities and equipment one by one to improve them with those which impose less burden on the environment, and
We will endeavor to prevent water pollution due to industrial emissions and manage the preservation of water quality of our water resource, the Abukuma River, and
We will to the best of our ability endeavor to follow the “3R” (reduce, reuse, recycle) in order to reduce industrial wastes, such as packaging materials, papers, plastics, oils and sewage, as well as promote recycling, and
We will endeavor to reduce CO2 emission that causes global warming by the reduction of electrical power consumption which occupies a considerable part of energy consumption, and
We will set the basic policy of environmental objectives and openly disclose them to the communities, as well as to our departments and employees. In addition, we will instruct and support our business suppliers and related companies to promote environmental preservation activities, and
We will aim to ensure affirmative information disclosure and communications for the promotion of mutual understanding to establish both a collaboration and cooperation in the community.
